After making over Rs 272 crore in 5 weeks, Kabir Singh can be certified as the biggest hit of 2019 so far. And mind you, these are only the film’s earnings from ticket sales in India. The commercial success of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Kabir Singh, a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy by the same director, has surprised even the makers and the main lead - Shahid Kapoor.

While box-office figures are tossed around almost every day, how much profit exactly does a producer make from super hit like Kabir Singh?

  • 50% to Exhibitors'  Share = Rs 137 crore
  • 50% to Producers Share = Rs 137 crore
  • Budget (Including P&A) = Rs 45 crore

Kabir Singh released on 21 June, 2019 across 3123 screens in India and 493 screens abroad, so that’s a total of 3616 screens worldwide.

This remake of Arjun Reddy is the biggest hit in Shahid Kapoor’s career till date. Kabir Singh opened with Rs 20.21 crore on its first Friday - the highest opening day for a Shahid Kapoor film, even Padmaavat after all the hype and the presence of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh opened with Rs 19 crore on its first day.

While Shahid Kapoor has denied it, the grapevine buzz is that after the huge success of Kabir Singh, the actor has now upped his fee to anything between Rs 35 - 40 crore, which is almost the budget of his last release.
