Actor Jacqueline Fernandez recently posted a video of her and Salman Khan appearing on a reality dance talent show to promote their upcoming film Race 3. The video was posted with the message: “Kids usually love me, this boy was an exception.. at least I got my hug in the end”.

In the video, we see Salman asking a 7-year-old child participant if he wants to hug Jacqueline, to which the kid says no, because he doesn’t feel like it. Salman though, takes Jacqueline to the kid on stage and makes him forcibly hug her, not once but twice. All this happens while the show’s judges, which includes Madhuri Dixit, and another celebrity guest, Anil Kapoor, look on.

What seemed like a “cute” and “harmless” moment to Jacqueline and her celebrity friends, hasn’t gone down well with a few on social media. The all-important idea of consent and respecting the wish of the child to not be hugged have been highlighted via Twitter.

The setting of a reality TV show and the involvement of celebrities and a child inevitably brings memories of the controversy involving Papon kissing a minor participant of a music show in February this year.

A Supreme Court lawyer Runa Bhuyan filed a complaint with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights against Papon after a video of the act came out on Facebook.
