We’ve all been victims of overpriced food in five-star hotels, and Bollywood actor Rahul Bose recently found himself in the same boat. The Dil Dadhakne Do actor took to Twitter to post a sarcastic video about how he was charged Rs 442 for two bananas at a five-star hotel in Chandigarh.

Taking a jibe at JW Marriott, the hospitality chain, he tweeted, “You have to see this to believe it. Who said fruit wasn’t harmful to your existence? Ask the wonderful folks at @JWMarriottChd #goingbananas #howtogetfitandgobroke #potassiumforkings”

In the video, he elaborates on how he ordered for two bananas after his work out at the gym and was surprised by their price.

Here’s what he says in the video, “So I am shooting in Chandigarh and I am staying at this beautiful suite at the JW Marriott where they give all these elegant freebies like these chocolate cookies and God knows how much these beautiful flowers must have cost. But get this, I was in the gym and I asked for two bananas when I was working out and of course, I got the bananas. Check the bill out.”

He then concludes the video with, “They’re just too good for me. Well done, JW Marriott Chandigarh.”

Towards the end of the video clip, Rahul even shares the receipt sent to his room in which he has been charged majorly for a ‘Fruit Platter’ that costs Rs 375, excluding other components like GST.

Naturally, Twitter erupted with reactions. However, this time, it seemed like netizens were all too familiar with such gimmicks. While some opted for humour, others empathised with Rahul Bose for sharing his experience.

One particular user even made the effort to explain the logic applied by the hotel.

In a new development, an investigation into the case has been issued by Chandigarh’s Deputy Commissioner Mandip Singh Brar. The investigation will be conducted on the GST charged by the hotel on the two bananas, reported Times of India.
