Priyanka Chopra Invests in Women-First Dating App Bumble

Priyanka Chopra has taken a stake in her second tech venture. The dating app Bumble with a women-first philosophy requires women to make the first move. “What we love is the potential for us in India,” Bumble founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd told Fortune.

Priyanka Chopra will act as the partner, adviser and investor to the app.

“I’ve always believed that investing in women is key to social transformation and economic growth...Women want love, they want friendship and they want to find a career, and that’s the uniqueness of what Bumble delivers,” the actor said in a statement. 

“She’s a partner, and she’s going to help us empower not only the women of India—she will be a global force,” Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd said at Fortune‘s Most Powerful Women Summit, adding that women globally want to be empowered; they need to feel safe, and they need to connect.

The app addresses concerns around safety for Indian women. Bumble is set to introduce a feature allowing women to set their profiles to only display their first initial. The app is also intent on announcing new features for reporting bad behaviour.

Priyanka Chopra is a tech investor in a coding school called Holberton School too.
