Little did Priya Prakash Varrier know that Manikya Malaraya Poovi, the song from the Malayalam film Oru Adaar Love would catapult her to such heightened fame that should would topple the crown off Sunny Leone’s head and be its claimant as the most searched Google actress. She has been searched more than Leone, who is known to perpetually trend, in the past few days.

The 18-year-old girl whose instinctive wink took the internet by storm is a celebrity even before her debut as an actor. With a follower count of over 3 million on Instagram, the overnight sensation has captured the imagination of many netizens and piqued the curiosity of others. Some brands were quick to rope her in on Valentine’s Day for social media ads.

“This was all very sudden and it’s also very new to me. So, I’m actually very happy and excited about the movie, but then I don’t know how to handle all this fame and popularity that I gained in a single day – what you call an overnight sensation. I don’t know how to react to that. My family is very happy about all this and my friends are really excited. They are more excited than me. I’m actually just coping with it very slowly.”
