The acquisition of a book titled Sridevi: Girl Woman Superstar has been announced on Sridevi’s birth anniversary by Penguin Random House. The book which recounts the life and times of one of India’s most popular actors has been approved by Sridevi’s husband and film producer Boney Kapoor. Sridevi: Girl Woman Superstar has been written by author and screenwriter Satyarth Nayak.
On Tuesday, actor Vidya Balan took to social media to officially unveil the cover of the book. She wrote, “I am honoured and delighted to officially launch the Cover of the Penguin book on the iconic Sridevi on her 56th birthday today. Congratulations to author @SatyarthNayak, dear @BoneyKapoorsir and the @PenguinIndia mavericks @mileeashwarya and @film_worm”
The book cover features a side profile picture of Sridevi clad in a black dress.
“What I am proud of is that besides her legendary innings in Hindi cinema, this book for the first time delves deep into her iconic body of work in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema,” says author Satyarth Nayak.
According to the publishers, this is the first and only detailed chronicle of Sridevi’s fifty year long journey across all the five industries she worked in. Sridevi: Girl Woman Superstar promises to give readers an up-close and personal look into both the phenomenon and the person. Nayak reportedly has had exclusive access to Sridevi’s family, friends and co-stars in the film fraternity, and so has tracked Sridevi’s journey from child star to prima donna who redefined the Indian heroine. The book will not only chronicle her journey and successes in the industry but also her innings after her successful comeback in 2012 with English Vinglish.
