Akshay Kumar has always been a prankster on his film sets, and his co-stars have been a witness to it. Now, during a Mission Mangal press conference in Delhi, a reporter’s phone became the source of humour.

A reporter’s phone placed to record soundbites at an Akshay Kumar press conference has become the source of much humour. Akshay Kumar and his co-stars Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, and Nithya Menen were talking about their film when a reporter’s phone began ringing.

Taapsee started encouraging Akshay to pick up the call, and he did. He proceeded to answer the call from one Mr Krishna. “Krishna ji, hum log ek press conference mein hai. Main Akshay Kumar bol raha hun (Krishna, we are at a press conference, this is Akshay Kumar speaking),” said Akshay adding that the owner of the phone would call back later.

Social media users were delighted, praising Akshay for his wit and even the other actors present started laughing.

Mission Mangal has released on 15 August and is expected to do well at the box office. It will enjoy a four-day opening weekend and a free two-week run at the theatres, as the next release, Prabhas’ action flick Saaho, will open on 30 August. This should ensure that it is able to make big bucks at the box office.

“Both Independence Day releases, Mission Mangal and Batla House are expected to do very well at the box office. Luckily for them, Saaho release has also been pushed. There’s also Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, but that’s got a niche multiplex audience,” says movie business analyst Girish Johar.
