Another video shows host Steve Harvey requesting for Zozibini’s autograph. Still letting the feeling of winning the event sink in, she takes his jacket and signs it.

The 26-year-old Miss Universe is from Tsolo, South Africa. She is quite active in fighting against gender-based violence. At the event she was described as someone who has “devoted her social media campaign to changing the narrative around gender stereotypes. She is a proud advocate for natural beauty and encourages women to love themselves the way they are.”

The final question that won the young woman the crown was, “ What is the most important thing you should be teaching young girls today?” To which she replied, “I think the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership. It’s something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time, not because we don’t want to but because what society has labelled women to be. I think we are the most powerful beings in the world and that we should be given every opportunity and we should be teaching young girls to take up space.”

After this historic moment, Oprah Winfrey took to Twitter to congratulate Zozibini. She wrote, “Congratulations Miss South Africa, the new Miss Universe @zozitunzi! Agree with you...leadership is the most powerful thing we should be teaching young women today. We welcome your visit to #OWLAG, our Leadership Academy for Girls (sic).”
