George Michael would have turned a year older on this day (25 June). The popular singer-songwriter passed away at his London home in December 2016.

He began his career with the hugely popular Wham!, which saw him work his way into the hearts of teenage girls around the world with melodies like Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go. With his 1987 album Faith, Michael had grown up into a feisty pop sex symbol.

As a tribute to Michael, here are six of the biggest hits to remember him by.

1. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (1984)

2. Careless Whisper (1984)

3. Freedom (1984)

4. Last Christmas (1984)

5. I Want Your Sex (1987)

6. Faith (1987)
