Javed Lashes Against Trolls, Defends Naseer’s Amnesty Video
Javed Akhtar is not to be messed with!
After Twitter users criticising Naseeruddin Shah for appearing in a video by Amnesty International started trolling Javed Akhtar, lumping him into a so-called ‘Amnesty gang’, the veteran poet/writer wasn’t one to mince words and responded strongly.
Naseer was already under fire for stating in an interview that he felt unsafe for his family. His trolls were given more ammunition on Friday 4 January when he appeared in a video shared by Amnesty International urging the Indian government to stop its “crackdown on freedom of expression and human rights defenders.”
Soon, a horde of trolls started attacking the actor on Twitter. One such person however made the mistake of mentioning Javed in his tweet, saying “After award wapasi gang, it's now Amnesty Gang. Be ready more more anti India masala which would get big support from
@TheQuint @BDUTT @Javedakhtarjadu Nasuriddin Shah, @ndtv and any Bollywood actor who is set to get notice from tax authorities for not paying taxes!!”
Javed didn’t take the insult lightly and replied, “Why do you think that any one who is against the establishment is against the country . Any one who is against the government is against the nation . By this logic whole of political opposition is anti national and before 2014 even BJP was anti national because it was anti govt .”
Javed continued to give it right back to anyone who tried to argue with him.
