Seems like it’s the season of surprise weddings in Bollywood. After Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja, Neha Dhupia-Angad Bedi and Shiv Pandit-Ameira Punvani, music composer Himesh Reshammiya has married longtime girlfriend, Sonia Kapoor.
Himesh Reshammiya tied the knot with Sonia Kapoor in a traditional Hindu ceremony at the singer-actor's residence. The ceremony was a close knit affair with just close family and friends, including Himesh’s parents and his son Swaym.
The couple will be leaving for their honeymoon on Sunday, 13 May. Post marriage, Himesh will be announcing two new films as an actor. His wife Sonia will not be taking up any acting offers now as she wishes to focus on her family.
Himesh and Sonia have been dating since 2006 and living in together for a while now. The composer also has a 20-year-old son Swayam from his first wife, Komal. The two ended their 22-year old marriage in June last year. Sonia on the other hand, is a television actor, who has worked in shows like Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai, Jugni Chali Jalandhar, Yes Boss, Remix and many others.
There were reports that suggested Sonia’s presence in the musician’s life had led to his divorce with Komal, who rubbished the rumours completely. Komal released a statement that read, “I and Himesh completely respect each other and are jointly going with this decision to part ways legally but mutual respect will always be there between us as I am a part of his family and will always be, and the same is with him towards my family. There are compatibility issues in our marriage but we respect each other immensely. Sonia is not responsible for this at all and our son Swayam and our family loves Sonia just like a family member.”
