So, get cozy in your blanket with a humongous tub of ice-cream in your hand as you listen to this collection of songs to soothe the aching heart.

Channa Mereya... Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

This could currently be crowned the king of breakup songs. The strains of Achcha Chalta Hoon... sets the tune for what’s the become the anthem of anyone at the brutal receiving end of ek tarfa pyaar or one-sided love. Arijit Singh’s lilting vocals and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics set to Pritam’s music are just what you need when you are down in the dumps and looking for a light at the end of the tunnel. That’s if you can forget the pain in Ranbir Kapoor’s eyes as he leaves Anushka’s big fat wedding.

The Breakup Song... Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Well, breakups can be fun too - that’s the vibe that you get with The Breakup Song again from Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Sung by Nakash Aziz, Badshah, Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi - this number has the quirkiest of lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, which basically tells you that a broken heart is NOT the end of the world. Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma’s catchy dance steps are an added bonus.

Agar Tum Saath Ho... Tamasha

Sung by Arijit Singh and Alka Yagnik, AR Rahman is the man behind the melody. The lines Tum Saath Ho Ya Na Ho, Kya Fark Hai... Berang Thi Zindagi Berang Hai...are given by Irshad Kamil who has time and again made soulful melodies all the more beautiful. The song focusses on the heart wrenching emotion of letting your loved one go in the middle of a crowd of people staring at you while you break down. This song could make even the stone hearted shed a tear.

Kabira... Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani

Sung by Arijit Singh and Harshdeep Kaur under the guidance of Pritam, the soulful cry Re Kabira Maan Jaa is penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Director Ayan Mukerjee has brilliantly brought out the emotion of choosing between the one you love and the way you want to lead your life. This one is still at the top of every music lover’s list.

Tujhe Bhula Diya... Anjaana Anjaani

Sung by Mohit Chauhan, Shekhar Ravjiani and Shruti Pathak, the music to this track has been given by Vishal and Shekhar. Kumaar & Vishal Dadlani were the men who penned their heart out as they wrote, Har Pal Har Lamha Main Khud Se Yeh Kehta Rehta Hoon, Tujhe Bhula Dia....Despite of the film not working , this is one song stayed with everyone long after the film was gone. Ranbir and Priyanka were immaculate when it came to expressing how they couldn’t be with each other despite of loving each other. The scene where Ranbir stops his car to cry his gut out still gives me goosebumps.

Nadaan Parindey... Rockstar

Rockstar was the biggest album of the year 2011. As AR Rahman made the album historic, Mohit Chauhan was the voice of this Rockstar who weeped as the love of his life passed away and only music was the way he could release his pent up rage. Well, Irshad Kamil wrote the call to Naadan Parindey Ghar Aaja....Ranbir just took this gut wrenching song to another level with the pain in his eyes.
