The Brutalist, the period drama directed by Brady Corbet, the crime musical Emilia Pérez, and the historical epic Shōgun that is on an obvious winning streak took home some major wins at the 2025 Golden Globes Awards that were held in Los Angeles on 5 January.
The Brutalist which tells the story of a Holocaust survivor who immigrates to the US, won an award in the ‘Best Film – Drama’ category with wins in the ‘Best Actor’ and ‘Best Director’ categories for Adrien Brody and Corbet respectively. Emilia Pérez won four awards at the Golden Globes including a ‘Female Supporting Actor’ role for Zoe Saldaña who was up against actors like Margaret Qualley (for The Substance) and Felicity Jones (for The Brutalist).
The lead actors for Shōgun, Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada, and supporting actor Tadanobu Asano all secured historic wins. The wins only add the show’s awe-inspiring night at the Emmys.
