The Mumbai illegal Call Detail Record (CDR) scam is throwing up some big names from the entertainment industry following the arrest of high-profile lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui. After actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who Thane police says was a “witness” with no “direct role” in the scam, names of Kangana Ranaut and Jackie Shroff’s wife Ayesha have also cropped up.
According to Mumbai Mirror, former model and actor Ayesha Shroff, who’s also Jackie Shroff’s wife, had illegally sourced CDR of actor Sahil Khan with whom she allegedly had a dispute. The investigating police team will soon be summoning her to record her statement.
“The two were involved in a dispute and she allegedly sourced the CDR of the actor, and handed it to her counsel Rizwan Siddiqui.”Nitin Thakare, Senior Police Inspector, Thane crime branch.
Ayesha has denied any knowledge of the matter.
Ayesha Shroff and Sahil Khan, according to the police, were caught in a dispute a few years back, which was when Ayesha allegedly sourced his CDR. Ayesha had alleged that Sahil was a business partner who cheated her of Rs 8 crore. Sahil on the other hand said that he was in a relationship with her and had spent the money on her. Both withdrew cases against each other in 2015, agreed to shut their company and not harm each other’s reputation.
But it’s not only Ayesha Shroff. Actor Kangana Ranaut’s name has also cropped up in the controversy. According to Thane crime branch, investigations have revealed that Kangana had messaged actor Hrithik Roshan’s number to Rizwan Siddiqui. They are investigating if Siddiqui had sourced Hrithik’s CDR as well.
“We are investigating into it, the mobile number was of Hrithik Roshan and the message was sent by actress Kangana to lawyer Rizwan who represented her. We are not sure if Hrithik’s CDR was procured illegally. The matter is under investigation.”
Kangana has been having a public spat with Hrithik over an alleged affair for some time now.
Lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui is currently in Thane crime branch custody for allegedly sourcing the CDR of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife, Aaliya Siddiqui.
