Amidst neck-and-neck competition with Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie to become the world's most subscribed YouTube channel, Bhushan Kumar, head honcho of Indian film production house and music label T-Series, took to social media to encourage fans to ensure T-Series wins the race to number 1.

"There is an Indian YouTube channel on the brink of becoming World's No.1. It has taken us a lot of effort to come this far. To take my father Mr Gulshan Kumar's dream forward, I started this channel. Today, it belongs to you, to the entire nation. It's a historic moment for all of us. So let's come together and subscribe to T-Series YouTube channel and make India proud," Bhushan said in a video posted on Twitter.

Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie, who has been zealously trying to overtake T-Series in the race to No 1 on YouTube responded with a sly tweet that read, “They are getting desperate.”

With 88,285,989 subscribers, PewDiePie’s channel remains the No 1 channel on YouTube, but at 88,239,013 subscribers, T-Series isn’t far behind.
