The Angamaly Magistrate Court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Malayalam actor Dileep till September 16. The prominent actor, who was arrested on July 10 in connection with the abduction and alleged sexual assault of a woman actor, has since been in judicial custody. The Magistrate Court extended his custody, after his custody period came to an end on Saturday.
According to reports, Dileep was not produced before the court in person, but appeared through video conferencing on Skype from Aluva sub-jail, where he is currently lodged. Meanwhile, the actor has also filed a fresh petition with the Magistrate Court, seeking permission to attend the rites on his father’s death anniversary.
The ritual is due to take place on September 6. Dileep has reportedly asked permission to attend the rites with the escort of police and return to prison the same day. Reports say that the court will consider his plea on Saturday.
