Which singer inspired a generation of schoolgirls to wear their hair in pigtails? Name the popstar who took the red latex jumpsuit out of a BDSM bedroom and made it ‘socially’ acceptable? Which songstress wrapped Banana, the python, around her neck? Who is that one pop star whom you’d remember for overly moist lips?

Yep, it’s Britney b*tch and she’s back with her latest album ‘Glory’. The album officially releases on 26 August, but a major leak has ensured the pop princess’ fans already know what’s in store for them. And this time it is unquestionably, unadulterated Britney. But here’s our take on the 4 singles officially released by the artist.

Oops...She Has Done It Again

Make Me, featuring rapper G-Eazy and the first single from the album to be released in July, is a mid-tempo R&B track that makes your ears perk up with, of course, vocals that shine. You can hear the artist almost smile in the chorus.

Do you wanna come over is an out and out electro club banger with some heavy foot stomping beats. The chorus throws you off during the first hearing but then slowly grows on you.

Clumsy has vocals set against rhythmic clapping, which then transforms into a beat, and features Britney’s favourite word, ‘oops’, which sounds every bit naughty as it did the first time.

Private show with chorus that goes ‘work it, work it, boy watch me work it/ Slide down my pole, watch me spin it and twerk it/Put on a private show’ reveals and unleashes the quality of her voice.

The talent pool behind the making of this album includes BURNS & Mischke Butler. BURNS is a UK DJ and producer who has also toured with Calvin Harris. Mischke Butler is a songwriter and producer who has previously worked with Michael Jackson, Gwen Stefani and JoJo.

In The Zone

With this album it is as if Britney Jean, the 2013 album with will.i.am as the executive producer, didn’t happen. The abomination which was laden with heavy-duty EDM and her robotic vocals made it the artist’s lowest selling album.

It feels as if the single Pretty Girls featuring one trick pony and disaster of an artist, Iggy Azalea, didn’t ever release. Because this time, the high-priestess of sex-kitten(ish) vocals is ‘in the zone’ and having fun.

Glory

This album is definitely not ‘personal’ in nature. It is not a ‘Lemonade’ drawing on Britney’s troubled past & failures. But when you are an artist who has unravelled in public and taken many years to collect yourself, it is completely legit to just go out there and have some fun. For a true fan, the success of a Britney track and even album depends on whether they imagine themselves slowly and sensuously stripping to it. And with Glory you will get just that.
