Salman Khan’s Tubelight has received mostly negative reviews from the media and a lukewarm response from the audience. The film’s box-office collections are reflecting the low buzz around the film. The first weekend collections of Tubelight are Rs 64.77 crore, which is good for an average Bollywood film but not a Salman Khan-starrer. The day-wise earnings of the Kabir Khan film over Friday, Saturday and Sunday are as follows:
Tubelight
- Friday: Rs 21.15 crore
- Saturday: Rs 21.17 crore
- Sunday: Rs 22.45 crore
The jump over Saturday and Sunday that is normally witnessed with a big release is missing here. Moreover, compared to Salman Khan’s last two Eid releases - Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan, this period film, set in 1962 is trailing by around Rs 40 crore.
Tubelight’s weekend box-office has not been able to match up to even Salman’s earlier Eid releases like Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger and Kick. While there might be a spike in collections on account of Eid on Monday, Tubelight still remains one of Salman’s low earners in recent years.
