Let’s admit it, at this moment Sonu Nigam and his tweets are far more entertaining than Netflix. The week belongs to the Indian Idle judge, oops, Idol. For the third day in a row, the singer has successfully managed to turn his tweets into headlines in all the leading media houses.
It all started early on Monday when Sonu was woken up by the morning azaan from the loudspeaker. Sonu cleared his throat and tweeted about ‘forced religiousness’ and wanted this ‘gundagardi’ to end (Author’s note: Yaaa! So he could sleep peacefully in the future).
By Tuesday, after causing a storm on Twitter, Sonu changed his “swar”.
Though Sonu reiterated his version, it didn’t stop the anti-Sonu brigade from trolling him. A maulvi from West Bengal issued a Rs 10 lakh fatwa against Sonu for his anti-azaan tweet.
Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi, vice president, West Bengal Minority United Council is ready to give Rs 10 lakh to anyone who can ‘shave Sonu Nigam’s head’, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck, and tour him around the country.
Phir kya tha. Channeling Barney Stinson’s (How I Met Your Mother fame) spirit, Sonu Nigam accepted the challenge and took the ‘bald’ move.
The Boarder singer has invited Aalim (Hakim) to shave his head and asked the maulavi to keep the cash ready.
Annnnd. He also invited the media (Author’s note: But of course).
