‘Safar’: The ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ Song Tries Too Hard to Be Cool 

As far as picturisation goes, even SRK fails to save the day.

Jab Harry Met Sejal ’s new number by Arijit Singh, Safar, is out. Spun around the rootlessness of Shah Rukh’s character Harry - a now-tiring theme in Imtiaz Ali’s films - the song does not impress us overmuch.

But what is actually a trifle annoying is how hard the makers have tried to make the video look cool. And we are not sure if it has worked. It starts with Shah Rukh, lyricist Irshad Kamil, music composer Pritam and Imtiaz Ali chitchatting about the lyrics of the song. And then Shah Rukh takes the mic and starts singing in Arijit Singh’s voice - after a full minute into the video.

It really puts you off. I bet the song would sound great without this forced picturisation. Check it out for yourself here:
