Shilpa Shetty Returns to Acting, Joins ‘Nikamma’

The actor is back in films after 13 years.

Shilpa Shetty is all set to make a comeback in Bollywood with the action entertainer Nikamma. The actor's last full-fledged role on the big screen was 2007's Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol starrer Apne. She has also made smaller appearances in films such as Om Shanti Om, Dostana and Dishkiyaoon.

In Nikamma, Shilpa will star alongside Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota actor Abhimanyu Dassani and YouTube sensation Shirley Setia. The film will be directed by Sabbir Khan.

Shilpa shared the news on her Instagram, writing, “Yesssssssss, it’s true! My sabbatical of 13 long years comes to an end.. I am so excited to announce that the film you will see me next in is #Nikamma ,
directed by @sabbir24x7 (cast still being finalised) featuring these amazing and talented actors @abhimanyud @shirleysetia@sonypicturesin. Need all your blessings 🙏😇 and Thank you for all the love always💗”

Sabbir, best known for directing films such as Heropanti and Baaghi, said, "Shilpa is a much loved name in every household and she was very clear right at the onset that her comeback would have to be with a worthy role. It's a dynamic part and I am glad to be working with Shilpa and bringing her back for the fans that miss her."

Nikamma is produced by Sony Pictures International Productions and Sabbir Khan Films. The film is scheduled to be released in 2020.
