China surely loves Aamir Khan and Zaira Wasim. After Dangal’s mammoth business in China, it is Secret Superstar that is raking in the the big bucks. In China, the film bypassed the Rs 200-crore mark within a week of its release - much more than its lifetime business in India.
Released on 19 January in China, Secret Superstar (now in its 4th week) has managed to bring in Rs 750 crore (amounting to 117 million dollars).
Secret Superstar stars Zaira Wasim as a 15-year-old Indian Muslim girl aspiring to be a singer. Aamir Khan plays an eccentric music composer named Shakti Kumar. The film was directed by Advait Chandan.
Produced by Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao, Secret Superstar has been produced on a budget of Rs 15 crore and its final box office number in India was Rs 63 crore. Last year, Dangal took over China's box office by collecting over a whopping Rs 1,200 crore.
