Salman Khan made his debut in Bollywood with Biwi Ho Toh Aisi where he played a baddie of sorts in a supporting role. He has not played a villain or a character in a negative role since. And now, he has backed out of the Dhoom 4 franchise because he doesn’t want to play a negative role.
Though rumours have been rife about Salman backing out of the project because he didn’t want to work with Abhishek Bachchan - married to ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai - the real reason is that the Tiger Zinda Hai star is not keen on playing a villain on screen.
“Having worked in the film industry for so long, I have noticed that the youth often follow whatever a hero does. They blindly ape their favourite stars. That’s why I have decided never to play a villain on screen because people can get impressed by my actions,” the 53-year-old told Deccan Chronicle.
He went on to say that he does not want his fans to ape him when he plays a baddie.
Salman Khan is currently busy with the filming of Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat. The period film is a remake of the Korean film, Ode to My Father and Salman Khan admits that it’s his most ambitious project to date. Salman Khan will be sporting five different looks spanning 60 years, wherein a pivotal part will showcase the actor in his late 20s.
Salman Khan is reportedly gearing up to recreate his Karan-Arjun look which has created immense buzz amongst the fans. Bharat will be shot across many locations in Malta and Abu Dhabi, besides Punjab and Delhi. The film also features Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover and Tabu.
