3. Kerala HC Directs IFFI to Screen ‘S Durga’ at Festival
In what can be seen as a setback to the government, the Kerala High Court on Tuesday asked for filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s thriller S Durga to be screened at the ongoing 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
The HC verdict comes after a petition was filed by Sasidharan challenging the dropping of his film S Durga from IFFI, which was earlier chosen by the festival jury. The filmmaker had alleged that the I&B Ministry had vetoed the decision of the IFFI jury without any authority of law and without giving any reason.
4. ‘Padmavati’ Row: Artists Shouldn’t Be Deterred Says Majid Majidi
Iranian auteur Majid Majidi’s film, Beyond the Clouds was the inaugural film at the48th International Film Festival of India that opened in Panaji, Goa on Monday. A star-studded affair, it saw the presence of Sridevi, who will also be inaugurating the Indian Panorama section, her husband-producer Boney Kapoor, and daughter Jhanvi Kapoor who is set to make her debut in Dharma Productions’ Dhadak, Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Nana Patekar amongst others.
