Director Sooraj Barjatya and star Salman Khan have collaborated multiple times over the last three decades and always with great success. Their last film together was the superhit family drama Prem Ratan Dhan Payo in 2015 which also starred Sonam Kapoor. Salman Khan famously plays the character of Prem in all of his films with Sooraj which include Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), Hum Aapke Hain Koun! (1994) and Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999).

Now the two are set to reunite in an upcoming film, Sooraj confirmed to Mid-Day. He noted that this film will be another family drama as he felt comfortable in the genre, and not an action thriller as some rumours had suggested. While Salman has agreed to the project, Sooraj still has to work on the script and plans to start shooting next year.

“I have discussed the primary idea with Salman. It’s going to be a family drama, and not an action film. All I can say is that it will have all the necessary ingredients that a Rajshri production has — emotions, drama and a lot of music. It is going to be my most satisfying film... I am going to put pen to paper after March, and hopefully, we should roll by next year... Whenever I am ready with the script, Salman has assured me that he will be ready too.”

Sooraj is currently working on the Rajshri production Hum Chaar, and also on his son Avnish’s directorial debut.
