The official account of the film production company Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, on Monday, tweeted that the upcoming film Kick 2 will be directed by filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala only.
Here’s what they wrote on Twitter: “Clearing the air, we strongly deny any reports of association of any other name as the director of Kick 2. The next of the franchise, Kick 2 is with Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment & will be directed by Sajid Nadiadwala.”
Kick starred Bharat actor Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Earlier, reports of the filmmaker’s exit from the project had surfaced on social media. As per these reports, director Rohit Shetty was being considered for the second installment of the franchise.
According to the entertainment website PinkVilla, Salman Khan, during the promotions of his latest Eid offering Bharat, had mentioned that he was in talks with Rohit Shetty about collaborating on a project together. This further legitimized the rumour.
However, now the rumours have been refuted and Sajid Nadiadwala will be directing Salman Khan starrer Kick 2. The original 2014 film Kick too was directed by Sajid Nadiadwala.
Sajid Nadiadwala also helmed Kick, which was also his directorial debut in 2014. Kick followed the story of Devi Lal Singh, played by Salman Khan, and his adventure-filled life. Jacqueline Fernandez plays his romantic interest in the film. According to reports, the script for Kick 2 has been in the works for a while and has finally almost been fine-tuned and locked. The sequel will be taking off from where Kick ended.
Salman Khan was most recently seen in Bharat, along with Katrina Kaif. He will also be seen opposite Alia Bhatt in upcoming film Inshallah. Jacqueline Fernandez, on the other hand, was last seen in franchise film Race 3. She will be seen in Drive, along with Sushant Singh Rajput.
