If you haven’t heard the dialogue, “How’s the josh?” then you are definitely living under a rock. It’s been a couple of months since Uri released and the movie has already hit over Rs 200 Cr at the box office.

Based on the surgical strikes that took place in September 2016, the movie shows how the insurgency in September irked sentiments across the country and the government planned the operations with the Indian Army.

The Uri cast visited The Quint’s office and we caught up with them to talk about the movie and how the past few months have been for the team.

Ronnie Screwvala, Aditya Dhar, Yami Gautam and Vicky Kaushal spoke their heart out on how the movie was associated with “propaganda” but the response post release from the audiences has stated otherwise.

“It gives me immense satisfaction and happiness when I see that from a kid to older generations, everyone’s resounding ‘How’s the josh?’”
Vicky Kaushal, Actor

Uri director Aditya Dhar told us how he was planning to shoot his first movie with Fawad Khan which got canned post the surgical strikes that led to a ban on Pakistani artists in India. Dhar told us about how then he planned to make a movie on the surgical strikes itself which is now a major hit.

Ever since the release of the movie, the team has had some overwhelming moments of appreciation coming in from public and the Indian Army alike. The leads, Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam, told us about how they have been receiving appreciation messages from the armed forces for the roles they played in the movie.
