The latest rumour around the block is that Priyanka Chopra is planning to work in a sequel to 2004 film, Aitraaz. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Subhash Ghai has had the script with him for two years, but only finalised it a month ago.
Producer of the film, Subhash Ghai wants Aitraaz 2 to go on floors by the end of this year. And he wants Priyanka Chopra to star in it.
A source close to the filmmaker told Mumbai Mirror,
“It’s a new story with a new title. Subhash Ghai has already had a word with Priyanka Chopra and the two have discussed the film. She loves the idea of a sequel to a film which won her accolades for her performance in a negative role and is excited to feature in the second instalment of the franchise. She is keen to collaborate with Ghai again and has even told him that she will try working around her dates.”
Aitraaz was a film beyond its time, where Priyanka Chopra played the antagonist and, along with Akshay Kumar, tackled the issue of sexual harassment that men face in the workplace. The film was a phenomenal success and earned Priyanka Chopra the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role, fourteen years ago.
