Kathak master and Bollywood actor Pandit Veeru Krishnan who is most popular for his role as Gulab Singh in the Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor-starrer Raja Hindustani passed away on Saturday in Mumbai.
Besides Raja Hindustani, Veeru Krishnan was also part of hit films like Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Ishq and Raja. Priyanka Chopra remembered the late Veeru Krishnan on social media and posted a heartfelt message which said that, Veeru Krishnan taught her to dance when she had two left feet.
Actor and Sunile Shetty’s daughter, Athiya Shetty also posted a message on Veeru Krishnan’s demise.
Lara Dutta also tweeted her tribute to Veeru Krishnan. The actor said that he “was really an institution and his passion for kathak and patience with his students made him an exemplary teacher.”
Popular television actor Karanvir Bohra who trained under the Pandit Veeru Krishnan shared an old video with him on Instagram. "I'm really sad to state that my darling Guruji #panditvirukrishnan has left for his heavenly abode... I was going to put up a post on teachers day thanking him and other teachers, little did I know that this angel will leave his body and I will never get to see him. We have learnt so much from him. Teachers like him were very few. @bombaysunshine and I were just talking today in the morning that we would @twinbabydiaries for Kathak next time they were in India. This is a great loss for all of us. But I know he is in a happier place. #GURUDEVKIJAIHO" said Karanivir’s post.
Among other stars Veeru Krishnan had also trained Katrina Kaif and her sister Isabelle.
