Pahlaj Nihalani might be replaced in a meeting called on 28 June in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Central Board of Film Certification might show the door to its controversial current chairman Pahlaj Nihalani, Times of India reported.
Quoting sources from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Times of India reported that Nihalani might be replaced in a meeting called on 28 June in Thiruvananthapuram.
Filmmakers Prakash Jha, Madhur Bhandarkar and TV Producer-actor Chandraprakash Dwivedi are among the names that are reportedly being considered as his replacement.
Nihalani has gained an infamous reputation for his cuts and censoring in films. The latest victim of Nihalani’s cuts is the critically acclaimed film Lipstick Under My Burkha.
Recently Nihalani sent a 5-page legal notice to the IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) and its organisers Wizcraft International over a skit performed by Riteish Deshmukh and Manish Paul where the CBFC chairperson was referred to as a ‘watchman’.
