Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and Padmaavat director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Friday, 19 January, announced that Akshay Kumar-starrer PadMan release date has been postponed.

The film was earlier scheduled to release the same weekend as Deepika starrer- Padmaavat, on 25 January.

Padmaavat has been made after facing a lot of difficulties, we decided on the release date of 25 January, but it was clashing with the release of Akshay Kumar’s film PadMan. We requested him to move the release date of his film and he agreed. We will be grateful to him for a lifetime.

Trade analyst, Komal Nahta tweeted about the postponement on Twitter. PadMan’s team has yet to confirm the news.

If true, the film will still clash with Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee’s Aiyaary, which will hit theatres on 9 February.

PadMan is a story on menstrual hygiene, and aims to tackle taboos and address the stigma around it. It is directed by R Balki and it also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte. PadMan will be the first Indian film to be screened at The Oxford Union.
