Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj has found its leading lady in Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Prithviraj is based on the life of the king Prithviraj Chauhan. Akshay will be reprising the titular role, and Manushi will be playing the role of princess Sanyogita.
Yash Raj Films has been grooming the Miss World for the last nine months and making sure the rehearsals are going fine.
“From becoming Miss India and then Miss World, my life has really been a fairy tale. Getting such a big project as my debut film, it's like a new, exciting chapter of my life,” Manushi said.
“Sanyogita’s life is an important chapter in Indian history and I’ll try to play her as accurately as I can.”Manushi Chillar
Chandraprakash Dwivedi said that Manushi auditioned for the role a couple of times. “We auditioned a lot of young, fresh faces for the role because we were looking for a stunningly gorgeous Indian heroine. While Sanyogita was an incredibly beautiful person, she was also a strong, confident girl. Manushi is someone who can match the persona of the princess,” he added.
On his birthday on 9 September, Akshay shared the news of him starring in the film.
He wrote, “Truly happy to share the news of my first historical film on my birthday. I’m humbled to have the opportunity to play a hero I look up to for his valor and values - Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan - in one of my biggest films .”
Releasing on Diwali 2020, Prithviraj is being produced by Yash raj Films.
