The trailer of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi will be released today. Along with Kangana Ranaut, who plays the warrior queen, the film also stars Ankita Lokhande, Jisshu Sengupta, Atul Kulkarni and Danny Denzongpa in important roles. The film has been helmed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi (Krish) and Kangana Ranaut.

Manikarnika brings to life the story of the legendary Lakshmibai who transformed from a young queen to a warrior mother who took on the British on the battle field to save her kingdom. Kangana has chanelled royalty and fierceness in equal doses in her portraiture of the queen.

Prior to the film’s release, the makers released several posters to introduce the supporting characters - from Jhalkari Bai and Tatya Tope to Ghulam Ghaus Khan and Raja Gangadhar Rao.

The film has been much in news for delays in shooting - the budget of Manikarnika has reportedly escalated from Rs 60 crore to Rs 125 crore, Kangana taking over the reins from director Krish and co-star Sonu Sood abandoning the project due to differences with her.

In an earlier interview with the IANS, Kangana said she was very proud of the film.

“I am extremely proud of this film, portraying a character who empowers and inspires. We have put in our heart, blood and sweat into making this film. ‘Manikarnika...’ will make each and every Indian proud.”
