Earlier, rumours about Karan Johar’s upcoming period drama Takht were going around. However, the filmmaker has very sneakily done away with them by sharing a behind-the-scenes prep video from the sets of the film. In a video shared by KJo on his Instagram story, we get a glimpse of what’s possibly the ongoing production work of the film.

Although, that’s not all. Karan Johar also recently changed his Twitter display picture to a poster of the film with the date ‘2020’ on it. Possibly revealing the release date?

According to Pinkvilla, here’s what a source close to the film had to say:

“The team is currently working rigorously to get the research material and everything in place. There’s a separate room in Dharma, where they brainstorm and look out for pictures to set up the scenario from the Mughal era, that the film is based on. How the houses were, how the warfare looked like - all of it is being properly looked upon. A huge set will be built in Mumbai and work on that will also begin soon. As of now, Takht will roll out by the end of 2019 or early next year around January 2020.”

A period drama set in the Mughal era, Takht is the story of two warring brothers. Similar to Kalank, Takht will feature an ensemble cast of Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, and Janhvi Kapoor. It will also mark Karan Johar’s return to Bollywood as a director.

Here’s what Anil Kapoor told PTI about his character:

“For the first time I am playing a historical character. It is a combination of many things for an actor, you can’t just say there is excitement, there is lot more. Till the time I don’t get into it I won’t be able to say what emotions I am feeling”

Considering the magnitude of the film, it will require immense efforts from not just the crew but cast as well.

“It’s a different film because I’ve not really done a period film like this. There will be a certain amount of dialect preparation, look tests that will happen. I’m also working with Karan after a very long time so I’m very excited.”
