1. ‘Safar’: The ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ Song Tries Too Hard to Be Cool
Jab Harry Met Sejal ’s new number by Arijit Singh, Safar, is out. Spun around the rootlessness of Shah Rukh’s character Harry - a now-tiring theme in Imtiaz Ali’s films - the song does not impress us overmuch.
But what is actually a trifle annoying is how hard the makers have tried to make the video look cool. And we are not sure if it has worked. It starts with Shah Rukh, lyricist Irshad Kamil, music composer Pritam and Imtiaz Ali chitchatting about the lyrics of the song. And then Shah Rukh takes the mic and starts singing in Arijit Singh’s voice - after a full minute into the video.
It really puts you off. I bet the song would sound great without this forced picturisation.
2. ‘A Gentleman’ Trailer: The Other Side of ‘Sundar Susheel’ Sidharth
Starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Sidharth Malhotra, A Gentleman looks like quite an interesting mix, with some 90s nostalgia thrown in by Suniel Shetty. A Gentleman looks like an amalgamation of Hera Pheri, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, A Gentleman is set to release on 25 August and stars Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles. We also see a glimpse of Suniel Shetty in a negative role.
3. Kritika Chaudhary Killed by Drug Dealer Over Rs 6,000
Kritika Chaudhary, the 28-year-old small time actor, who was found murdered at her Andheri home last month, was killed over Rs 6,000 that she allegedly owed to a local drug dealer, revealed the Mumbai police. Almost a month after a partially-dressed Chaudhary was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in her apartment, investigators, on Monday, announced the arrest of two men in connection with the crime.
According to sources, the two accused, identified as Shakeel Naseem Khan, 33, a resident of Nalasopara, and Badshah Basudas Makmalal, 40, a resident of Govandi, were captured on the CCTV footage of the actor’s building in Bhairavnath Housing Society in the Four Bungalows area of Andheri (West). The security guard at the building had also informed the Amboli police that the accused were the last to have visited Chaudhary, two to three days before her partially decomposed body was discovered.

Chatting with East India Comedy, Tapsee spoke about her Tollywood stint, especially with director K Raghavendra Rao, who launched her with the film Jhummandi Naadam in 2010. She took a major dig at the director’s obsession with throwing fruits and flowers at heroines’ navels to add ‘sensuality’ to his films.

When Anushka Sharma shared the first poster of her next film Pari, fans couldn’t stop raving about her scary look in it. But with the second poster announcing the film’s release date (9 February, 2018), she’s taken fear up a notch. After playing a not-so-scary ghost in Phillauri, Anushka’s third production under the Clean Slate Films banner, seems to be making up for the fear factor.
