Irrfan Khan has wrapped up shooting for Angrezi Medium, a sequel to his 2017 film Hindi Medium. Director Homi Adajania marked the occasion with a heartfelt Instagram post in which he called the process of filming an “emotional rollercoaster”. He said that he was determined to do the film against all odds. He tipped his hat to Irrfan and thanked his cast and crew for their support. “Irrfan Khan, you are incredible… and you’re a decent actor as well. I love you more than I know how to say,” he wrote.
“ I truly believe that our collective positivity and celebration of life allowed us this. Regardless of this film’s fate, it’s shown me a lighter way of being and I’ll always cherish this,” Homi added.
Irrfan had earlier shared a hilarious meme of himself and Homi Adajania on set. In the photo, Irrfan is seen sitting with Homi and having a chat. In the first panel, Irrfan is chewing on some ganna (sugarcane) and says, “Been shooting for weeks... Can we discuss the character now?” To which Homi replies, “Tu ganna choos (Eat your sugarcane)... Let me make the film.” In the second panel, the two look frustrated with each other as Irrfan exclaims, “Can somebody please call the director?!”

Angrezi Medium is Irrfan Khan’s first film since he took a hiatus from Bollywood and sought treatment in London for a neuroendocrine tumour which he was diagnosed with last year. He plays a sweetshop owner in the film with Radhika Madan as his daughter who wishes to pursue higher education in the UK. Angrezi Medium also features Pankaj Tripathi as a wheeler-dealer who runs a travel agency and Kareena Kapoor as a cop. The film hits theatres on 24 April 2020.
