The first song from Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Gully Boy has released. Taking off from the film’s tagline — which has spawned several memes since the trailer dropped — the song is titled Apna Time Aayega. It has been written by rapper Divine and musician Ankur Tewari and composed by Divine and Dub Sharma.

The song’s lyrics allude to Ranveer’s character’s ambitions to make it big as a rapper. He can also be seen romancing Alia Bhatt in the video.
Directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment, Gully Boy also stars Alia Bhatt, Kalki Koechlin and Vijay Raaz. It is loosely based on desi rappers Naved Shaikh and Vivian Fernandes, aka Naezy and Divine, who have seen mainstream success since their song ‘Mere Gully Mein’ went viral in 2015. The two are known for their lyrics about growing up in Mumbai’s slums and their struggle to make a name for themselves.
Gully Boy releases on 14 February.
