First Ever Critics Choice Film Awards Nominations Announced

In a never before initiative, the Film Critics Guild and Motion Content Group on Tuesday unveiled the nominations for India’s first ever Critics Choice Film Awards. The nominations were announced by Zoya Akhtar, Vidya Balan, Rajeev Masand and members of the Film Critics Guild as well as the representatives of Motion Content Group.

Apart from recognising the best of Hindi cinema. the awards will also consider films made in eight other languages including Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, and Telugu. Talking about the need for such an unbiased system of film appreciation, Zoya Akhtar spoke about how her debut film Luck By Chance didn’t fare too well at the box office. However, it was the Critics who reached out and appreciated her efforts.

Other film critics present at the event include Anupama Chopra, Bhawana Somaaya, Raja Sen, Shubha Shetty, Bharathi Pradhan, Rohit Khilnani, Shubhra Gupta, Baradwaj Rangan, Suparna Sharma, Udita Jhunjhunwala, Suhani Singh and Rahul Desai.
