Conveying the message of gender equality on the occasion of Father’s Day, a video under Population Foundation of India’s Bas Ab Bahut Ho Gaya – Enough is Enough – campaign, features reputed Bollywood actor Vidya Balan and her father PR Balan talking about their cherished relationship.

The video, released by the Farhan Akhtar and filmmaker Feroz Khan-run initiative MARD (Mean Against Rape and Discrimination), chronicles how father Balan never let gender prejudices come in the way of bringing up his two daughters – Vidya and Priya – and always encouraged them to pursue their dreams.

Narrating how people used to ask him about not having a son, 71-year-old Balan said:

I never felt anything odd or lacking about it (not having a son), but society perceives like that. They (my daughters) are like two eyes of mine.
PR Balan

Vidya, on her part, emphasises on how important her father’s support to her career was, recalling how he had never had any qualms about her acting in the film The Dirty Picture.

When they said that to me (they didn’t raise any objections), I felt that now it doesn’t matter what the world says. That vote of confidence was priceless... He never discouraged me once. My parents never had preconceived notions about anything.
Vidya Balan

Now, isn’t watching this video the best way to celebrate Father’s Day?
