Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh, who made his Bollywood debut with Udtaa Punjab, will be seen in a sports film based on hockey legend Sandeep Singh. Directed by Shaad Ali, the first look of this intense looking biopic raised the anticipation for the film.
Diljit Dosanjh, the lead revealed a new poster of the film to a sold out arena in Birmingham.
Soorma will team up Diljit with Pink actors Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi, and the biopic is being produced by Sony Pictures Networks India Pvt Ltd. The film is set to release on 13 July.
Sandeep Singh, a former captain of the Indian national hockey team was paralysed and wheelchair bound for 2 years after an accidental gunshot injured him in 2006. Soorma revolves around Singh’s comeback into the game despite his debilitating injury. The film’s tagline is “The Greatest Comeback Story of the Hockey Legend Sandeep Singh”.
The makers had earlier released a creative with the photographs of Diljit and Sandeep with the message #DontLetThisStoryPass.
