Amit Sharma’s Badhaai, Ho, which narrated the tale of a fifty-something mother of two boys (played by Neena Gupta) becoming pregnant, became a huge success at the box office. Now, it is all set to get four remakes in the South. Producer and filmmaker Boney Kapoor has acquired the rights to recreate the comedy-drama in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Boney Kapoor said, “Yes, I have acquired the rights to all the Southern languages. I was very keen to remake the film as it resonates with both the masses and classes. The film has done exceedingly well in the heartland, and I am pretty confident that it will be well-received in the South too. I am yet to decide whether the Tamil or the Telugu version will go on the floors first as it is work in progress.”

Boney Kapoor had launched director Amit Sharma in his home production Tevar, featuring son Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead. Amit Sharma’s next directorial venture will be a biopic on Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, in which Ajay Devgn essays the role of the protagonist.
