Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain and Pragya Kapoor have collectively announced that there’s soon going to be a film based on the Balakot air strike that happened in early 2019. The film will be directed by Abhishek Kapoor.

Chairman of T-series, Bhushan Kumar took to Twitter to share the news. He tweeted, “A story of grit, determination and valour! Proud to announce #2019BalakotAirstrike, a tribute to the brave hearts of our country. Written & directed by @Abhishekapoor”

According to the statement, the film “will pay tribute to the sons of India and their never-say-die spirit”.

Producer Pragya Kapoor also tweeted that she was “excited to announce” the project. She wrote, “Excited to announce one of our most ambitious projects #2019BalakotStrike. Can't wait to bring it to you all”

In August it had been reported that Vivek Oberoi was making a film on the Balakot airstrikes led by the Indian Air Force in February 2019. Oberoi’s team had said that the actor was planning the film as a trilingual to be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu that will depict the “true facts, story and bravery of the Indian Air Force and their quick thinking, strategic planning with a strong political willingness.”

In February 2019, Indian Air Force had conducted an airstrike in Balakot, Pakistan, just two weeks after a CRPF convoy collided with a car full of explosives in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama. 40 CRPF soldiers were lost in the attack. The Indian government claimed that a Jaish-e-Mohammad terror facility had been targeted in Balakot.
