Amid the heated debate over people reportedly walking out of Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman's show, after he performed Tamil songs at the Wembley Stadium in London, his sister AR Raihanah has defended him. In an interview with Times Now, she said,

We did have pretty good number of Hindi songs. There were some songs sung in Hindi like Humma Humma, Enna Sona, Dil Se Re and Dil Hai Chota Sa. I think we are Indians. We should not think small. We should think as Indians. It’s an Indian language. So, we should think beyond boundaries. Music is all about love and harmony.

I don’t know why it is becoming such a big thing. It didn’t even happen in the stadium. Why after the show, I don’t know? Because if something like that would have happened, I would have posted it on Facebook or Twitter. It never happened. Nobody raised anything at that time and I don’t know why this is happening now.

She also said that she did not see anyone leaving the show, adding, "Maybe 10 out of 10,000 people would have left." Rahman's Netru, Indru, Naalai (Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow) gig at the London event on July 8 didn't hit the right chord with all his fans, especially his Bollywood-song admirers.

According to reports, some left the concert after Rahman started singing Tamil songs. Following the controversy, many fans stood by his songs selection as they believed music has no language barrier. Rahman is currently in New York for the 18th edition of the IIFA Weekend Awards and is yet to directly address the incident.
