Alia Bhatt took the opportunity of father Mahesh Bhatt’s 70th birthday to wish him on Twitter and announce that she is joining the cast of his upcoming film Sadak 2 along with Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur.
Alia wrote that her father directing her is “the greatest present I could dream for.”
And now the makers have shared a picture confirming the news again.
Vishesh Films and Fox Star Studios would be collaborating for three films starting with Sadak 2.
Alia had earlier also shared a brief teaser for the film, which announces the release date as 25 March 2020.
The teaser is comprised entirely of scenes from the original Sadak, while announcing the cast of the new one. Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt return for the sequel, along with Alia and Aditya Roy Kapur. Pooja hasn’t acted in a film since 2001’s Everybody Says I'm Fine!
Sadak 2 is a homecoming of sorts for the Bhatt family, as it marks Mahesh Bhatt’s return to directing after a hiatus of nearly 20 years. His last directorial venture was the 1999 film Kartoos, also starring Sanjay Dutt. This will be the first time Mahesh is directing daughter Alia.
