2.0-star Akshay Kumar will play King Prithviraj Chauhan on the big screen in an upcoming film directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, according to a report on an entertainment news portal. Akshay has 4 films lined up for release in 2019: Kesari in March, Good News in July, Mission Mangal in August and Housefull 4 in October. Plus he will be shooting for Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi.
Now a new report in Bollywood Hungama claims that Akshay has signed on to play Prithviraj Chauhan in a film with the same title. Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi who has earlier made films like Mohalla Assi will direct. There is no official confirmation yet but Akshay is said to have begun preparing for the role.
At the start of the year, Akshay had tweeted “ Sharing with you all the first sunrise of the New Year :) My workout motivation : two action-packed films this year, so find something to make you wake up, get up and get out there! Wishing you all a healthy and #HappyNewYear”
Now people are speculating that the second “action-packed” film Akshay mentioned is none other than Prithviraj Chauhan, the first being the already confirmed Sooryavanshi. The historical epic is believed to be set in the period of 1178-1192 AD and is aiming for a 2020 release.
