The Rajnikanth-Akshay Kumar sci-fi action film has already broken records as it has already made Rs 111 crore in 5 days and Rs 400 crore worldwide! The film is set to become Akshay’s highest earning film despite his wonderful box office record previously.

9. Toilet- Ek Prem Katha

Centered around the sanitation facilities in India, Toilet- Ek Prem Katha is a love story wherein a married couple tries to make do with not having a bathroom in their house. This film did tremendously well at the worldwide box office making this Akshay’s first Rs 300 crore hit. It made Rs 134.25 crore in India.

8. Rowdy Rathore

The film that made the legendary dialogue “Don’t angry me” extremely famous, Rowdy Rathore was directed by Prabhu Deva and had Akshay co-starring with Sonakshi Sinha. This action packed film made Rs 206 crore worldwide and Rs 133 crore in India!

This emotional drama did good numbers at the box office and received tremendous amount of critical acclaim for its execution and plot. Revolving around the struggles faced by an Indian businessman who risks his life to save his countrymen during the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq, Airlift touched many hearts. Airlift made Rs 223 crore worldwide and Rs 129 crore in India.

6. Rustom

Directed by Dharmendra Suresh Desai, this Akshay Kumar and Illeana D’cruz starrer made Rs 128 crore in India and 197 worldwide. The thriller-drama is based on real life incident that gripped the headlines of the nation. Rustom revolves around a naval officer who, on the discovery of his wife’s affair commits murder.

5. Jolly LLB 2

Making Rs 117 crore domestically and Rs 185 crore globally, the second part of Jolly LLB did extremely with critics and audiences alike. Set in the courts and legal systems of Lucknow, this comedy with a social element stars Huma Qureshi and Sayani Gupta alongside Akshay.

4. Housefull 3

The slapstick comedy series Housefull has featured Akshay starring in each of the films and that is part of the reason why the films remain extremely popular! The most recent entry Housefull 3 made Rs 109 crore domestically and Rs 195 crore internationally. Which means there is ample excitement for the upcoming fourth instalment.

2. Holiday

Earning Rs 113 crore domestically at the box office, Holiday was deemed as one of the finest action movies made in recent time. The film stars Akshay playing a soldier in the Indian army who bumps into a terrorist planning an attack on Mumbai and must stop it himself.

Last but not the least, we have Akshay’s first big release this year, Gold. The sports drama is based on the life of Tapan Das, who managed the Indian hockey team and trains the team in hopes of winning a gold medal at the Olympics. This patriotic drama made Rs 105 crore domestically.
