On 14 March, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan revealed that his next film would be a Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump. However, he did not share any other details. According to latest reports, the film will be based on 1984 Sikh riots. Forrest Gump starred Hollywood actor Tom Hanks.
Earlier, there were speculations that the film would be inspired from the Babri Masjid demolition. However, a source close to development has rubbished the claim and said that Laal Singh Chaddha will be based on 1984 Sikh riots instead.

Laal Singh Chaddha is being produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. it will be directed by Advait Chandan, who earlier directed Aamir in the film Secret Superstar.
