On Teacher’s Day, Bollywood actors talk about the teachers that influenced them the most in their lives and helped in shaping their life and career.

My favourite teacher would have to be Bertina Johnson. She taught me at an acting workshop in the US.

My dance guru Leela Samson . From her I learnt much more than dancing. One of the things that learnt from her which has helped me stay grounded is that the art is always greater than the artiste. However high you fly your feet are firmly on the ground. In all the madness and masti there is always the thehrav to hold on to.

My favourite teacher has got to be my brother-in-law, OP Singh. He was the one who made me believe when I was very young that anything is possible as long as I don’t stop dreaming. He actually taught me that no problem is too big to be solved and to not to be bogged down by problems. He taught me that all the complexities of life are a mere re-arrangement of small, basic things. He taught me how to work my way around all problems. One of the reasons why I became academically qualified and then made a career removed from academics with absolute certainty is my brother-in-law. This Teacher’s Day I want to thank him for teaching me everything that I needed to know to reach where I am.
Sushant Singh Rajput
My favourite teacher was my English teacher, Mrs Grimes. She was a very strict, elderly English lady. She taught me how empowering reading can be. English became my favourite subject because of her.
Kalki Koechlin
My favourite teacher was my acting guru, Barry John. I am where I am because of him.

My favourite teacher in my college DAV College, Chandigarh was Prof Ravindra Chaudhary. He was the teacher for physical education. But he was also in-charge of our theatre group in college. The lavish funds we used to get for our stage productions in college were unheard of. That was only possible because of Prof Chaudhary’s and our principal Prof Subhash Marria’s trust in our abilities.

I have many favourite teachers and I’ve learnt so much from them. My teachers are not only those who taught me in school, college and film school, but also the actors whom I watched and learnt so much from.

My favourite teacher would have to be my mom. She is a professor in Delhi University. She used to help me in all the subjects when I was in school. She would teach me, make notes at home, take my tests and help me revise. I disliked Maths to begin with. But she made me fall in love with Maths. So yeah, whether it is academics or life in general, my mom has been my best teacher.

My favourite teacher is my dance teacher Paresh Shirodkar. He gave me one of the greatest gifts of my life and that is to express myself through dance.
