Hollywood’s favourite filmi comics Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler are coming together in a movie. What’s so special about that? Well, the fact that this Hollywood flick has a Hindi title, Yeh Din Ka Kissa (The Story of the Day). Now this might be a working title for all you know, though we can’t help but wonder how and why film director Noah Bambauch decided on it.
The film is as Hollywood as it gets, but curiously has a Hindi title. The project is currently looking for actors and we found out about the title through a street advertisement put up by a casting agency.
From the film’s description on the flyer, it does sound like it has the potential to be the kind of comedy that Sandler and Stiller popular for. Remember Stiller in There’s Something About Mary and Meet the Parents? And Adam Sandler was quite a riot in The Wedding Singer, Big Daddy and Billy Madison.
The film tells the story of an estranged New York family coming together in preparation of artist & patriarch Harold’s career retrospective.
Filming for YDKK has started on popular streets in New York, East Fifth Street and Cooper Square. Flyers requesting residents to move their vehicles can be seen all over these streets. Reports suggest that Dustin Hoffman will play father to the leading funny men while Emma Thompson will be essaying the part of a passive-aggressive alcoholic.
More details are expected to trickle in since the filming has only just begun. But what we’re most curious about is the Hindi title. Well, Bollywood is catching up with Hollywood in a lot of ways now, but Yeh Din Ka Kissa takes the cake! Watch this space for more updates on this special flick.
