Ben Kingsley Turns Sikh Driving Instructor for ‘Learning to Drive’

Sir Ben Kinglsey is appearing as a Sikh driving instructor in the upcoming movie Learning to Drive.

In a refreshing first, Sir Ben Kinglsey appears as a Sikh driving instructor in the upcoming film, Learning to Drive. His character in the movie is Darwan, a soft-spoken taxi driver from India who’s entering into an arranged marriage.

Darwan is hired as a driving instructor by a Manhattan writer whose husband leaves her for a younger woman. In each other’s company they find the courage to take the wheel, both in life, and on the road.

Directed by Isabel Coixet Learning to Drive also stars Patricia Clarkson, and Sarita Choudhury in important roles and is slated to release in American theatres on August 21. For now, enjoy the sweet trailer.
